Solidifying Your Vision: Ways to Stay on Track with Your Goals for the New Year

It’s almost time to say goodbye to 2014 and start thinking of ways to improve our lives in 2015. Look at this New Year as a opportunity to start over, produce, succeed and reinvent yourself. But since those goals/aspirations tend to fade away after the first few months we decided to offer some tips that will help you stay focused.

Here are some steps to help you keep your goals in tact:

There’s something tangible about actually taking a pen and piece of paper and writing your goals down. If you actually write your goals down and put them somewhere where you can see them daily you’ll feel inspired to complete them.

2. Set weekly/monthly mile-markers.

Take your goals and divide them up into pieces. You won’t be able to complete a weight loss goal overnight. So set due dates for when you’d like to achieve your goals or at least be halfway there.

3. Give yourself an incentive. 

Just because you are close to achieving your weight loss goal that doesn’t mean you should go on a cheating spree and eat everything in sight. Go out to a nice dinner with your girls or bae. You can even purchase that dress that you’ve been eyeing onlne but didn’t want to purchase until you started seeing results.

Pair up with an individual or even a community that is working towards the same goal. You can both help each other in the process. Having a resolution buddy will encourage you and give you the incentive to complete your goal.

5. Take it one day at a time. 

Keep it simple! You can do anything you put your mind too. Don’t let your goals overwhelm you. Change takes time and with concentration, a positive attitude and the right frame of mind your goal will be achieved before you know it.

6. Don’t beat yourself up.

If you fall behind or slip up in your commitments, don’t get caught up in failure. Look at it as a learning experience, but don’t let it become a habit. The more you dwell in the negative, the less productive you’ll become.

Focus on your goals! Don’t look in any direction but ahead. It’s almost Game Time folks, so put your helmets on and be ready to come out a champion. It will hurt. It will take time. It will require dedication. It will require will power and sacrifice. There will be temptation but I promise you when you reach your goal it will be worth it! Always let your faith be bigger than your fears.
