It’s hard to believe that 2014 is coming to an end and 2015 is right around the corner. With just a few days to spare now is the perfect time to reflect on the resolutions you made for 2014. Have you accomplished anything? Is there anything you wished you did differently? You should also take this time to look ahead and start thinking about what you want to do in 2015.
While you’re reflecting ask yourself these questions:
Think about the resolutions you made on January 1, 2014. If you’ve accomplished majority of the resolution(s) you made give yourself a pat on the back! Majority of the people that make resolutions at the beginning of the year either forget them or call it quits by mid February. So if you’ve accomplished your goal(s) celebrate the milestones that you’ve reached and continue with a positive attitude and mindset.
2. Where did you fall short?
If you didn’t complete any of the goals you’ve set for yourself in 2014 maybe you need to change your approach for 2015. Take your failures as a learning experience, but don’t give up. Dissect what went wrong so that you don’t make the same mistakes twice. It’s only failure if you don’t take anything away from it. Remember no dream is too big! But you have to be willing to put the work in.
3. What did you learn?
Think about what you learned from this year – both your success and failures. Even if you’ve succeeded think about what you could’ve done differently. There’s definitely more than one way to do something. Also, getting feedback from others can be helpful. Another perspective can be refreshing and eye opening.
4. What do you want to accomplish next year?
Now that you’ve thought about everything you’ve done this past year, you should start to build your plan for next year if you haven’t already. You should build your plan for 2015 based off of what you accomplished in 2014. Yes, you should be rewarded for accomplishing the goals you’ve set for yourself, but don’t let yourself off easy. You should always want to strive for the best and be an even better person that you were yesterday!
Whether you were successful or unsuccessful. Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass just like 2014 did and you don’t want to be here this time next year thinking I should’ve, I would’ve and I could’ve. You want to be able to say I did!
